I chose the name Aeris because it is associated with air — something light, free and almost impossible to hold onto. It felt right for this painting because of the way the horse’s mane moves through the composition, as if it is caught by a soft breeze.
For me, Aeris is about freedom, calm and quiet strength. The horse is not shown running or in a dramatic moment. She simply looks ahead, calm and confident. There is a softness in her expression, but at the same time, she feels strong and independent.
I wanted to keep the palette light and natural — soft whites, warm greys and subtle beige tones. The flowing mane brings a little movement into the painting, while the overall atmosphere remains peaceful.
Aeris is about the feeling of freedom that comes with being completely at ease with yourself — quiet, natural and effortless.
